Ever since its opening, Monica’s Restaurant has continued to redefine itself. Through the years Monica’s Restaurant has grown. In 1998 answering to the needs of their growing clientele Monica’s Restaurant has moved from its original location on 67 Prince Street -where now houses Trattoria di Monica- to a larger location on 143 Richmond Street. After a few months of major renovations, Monica’s Restaurant has expanded its capacity, incorporated a wine bar area with additional seating and has obtained a full liquor license to better serve its guests.
Located on the Freedom Trail, in the heart of the North End of Boston , Vinoteca di Monica is the result of Monica’s Restaurant evolution and its chef‘s passion for the Italian culture and the big role food and wine plays in its preservation.
Specializing in rustic regional Italian cuisine, Chef Jorge Mendoza-Iturralde incorporates international techniques and ingrendients to traditional recipes, adding a contemporary touch to old world classics. The menu focuses on the preservation of traditional regional dishes, with an unpretentious dedication to the true flavors that make regional Italian cuisine so popular. On a nightly basis, the menu at Vinoteca di Monica offers diners unmatched recipes of home-made pasta dishes, grilled meats, succulent New England seafoods, and preparation of locally farmed produce. At Vinoteca di Monica the commitment to quality and consistency is carried out in a larger and more comfortable setting that showcases the innovating Italian cuisine of Chef Jorge Mendoza-Iturralde.
The wine list reflects years of research and gathering, wine selections range from regional varietals to selected vintages, with an emphasis on the true representation of each geographic region. To complement the different characteristics of the wines from the varied Italian regions the culinary approach is simple with a dedication to preserving the cultural crafts that make it so special.
You no longer need to travel to Italy to experience the marriage between regional Italian food and wine. Chef Jorge Mendoza-Iturralde - one of the five Mendoza family members participating in this family-owned, family-operated enterprise - expresses his passion for food and culinary techniques which are inspired by the Mendoza family's Italian heritage. |
